Lesson: You can’t do this on your own. Trying to do too much is going to hold the business back. Also, its a risk to your business. You need to build something that doesn’t need you.
What do people say? Something like Team is the second product of a startup?
Example
My mate Nick says to create an album you need to kill your darlings. What does that mean? Well, as a song writer he can write a great song that he loves, but to get it recorded and produced and performed he needs a whole team of people, and those people are going to take his idea and twist it and transform it into something new, and something shared. In the process the thing he loves will change, and if he holds on too tightly then it will never grow.
Growth is death. Death of the thing you loved into something new. Something bigger. Something shared. Something with impact. If you hold on too tightly, your ideas will never get the chance to grow.
So What Now?
Don’t hold on too tight. Bring people in and give them space to contribute and change and grow your idea. But, don’t rush into it. Build a community slowly. With purpose. Don’t try and marry people on the first date as it were.
